dragonflies, this lodge is in a peaceful landscaped site but is

Sandyhills beach
Examples of other activities include the renowned 7stanes mountain biking in Dalbeattie Forest, only 10 mins way (that's by bike!), with Mabie Forest offering further challenges nearby. If gentle cycling or walking is more your thing, there is plenty of choice, including forest trails easily accessible from the lodge, the National Trust lands' 1-mile walk across the Jubilee path from Kippford to Rockcliffe, or the bird sanctuary on Rough Island at low tide.
Golfing is available across the road at the 9-hole Craigieknowes, or 18 holes at Colvend or Southerness. Kippford is home to an active yacht club and water activities are available locally, both on the Solway Firth and at the Galloway Sailing Centre at Loch Ken.
The area is perfect for loch, river and sea fishing (Kippford Holiday Park can help with access to a private loch) and horse riding is available at Barend, Sandyhills. We haven't even got to the local shopping yet, includingCastle Douglas, the Stewarty's 'Food Town', or Kirkcudbright with its artist history. And did we mention ice cream farms?
Time now to relax on the deck, gazing across the open views to the Galloway Hills, watching the sun go down.....
